Key Features and Benefits for patients
We have developed a new page which can be switched on per practice on our patient form.
This enables patients to self refer for a free video consultation with a Community Pharmacist under the Pharmacy First scheme facilitated through our partner My Local Surgery.
This allows them to seek support for sore throats, UTIs, impetigo, contraception requests, sinus infections, Infected inspect bites and shingles.
Key Aspects:
- Benefits patients with mobility issues, some elderly patients and those that perhaps have time constraints and may not be able to visit their local pharmacy
- There is no requirement to create an account/sign in
- The only cost to the patient is their prescription if required and they normally pay for this
- There are no charges other than a standard prescription charge where applicable
- There are no additional costs to the practice
- The patient has the choice to proceed as they wish and can also find a local pharmacy if they prefer an 'in person' service, or submit an online enquiry to the practice in the normal manner
- If the patients condition is not suitable for treatment by the pharmacy they are referred back to practice via email and there would be no need for the patient to submit another enquiry
- Referral rates per practice can be tracked through a dashboard
- Practices can also refer patients for a video consultation with a pharmacist
- Once the consultation has taken place a summary of the consultation is sent via the pharmacy system e.g Pinnacle, Sonar back into the clinical system with no action required by the practice staff. The consultation will be recorded as pharmacy first and the condition discussed is also logged
- If required the patient receives their prescription by post the following morning (the postage is free of charge) through NHS mail
- This is serviced by pharmacists across the UK
- Your local pharmacists can sign up to this service and if required be directly linked to your Klinik patient form
